EEO Public File Record & EEO Annual Public File Report - 2011

EEO NARRATIVE
RED LION BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC.
TELEVISION BROADCAST STATION WGCB-TV - RED LION, PA
2011 EEO REPORT

Red Lion Broadcasting Company, Inc., and its operating affiliate Red Lion Television, Inc. are equal opportunity employers and, under their current management, have followed a consistent practice of outreach to their station’s community, Red Lion, PA, and work force regarding broadcast career and job opportunities. As of the past two years, the stations are continuing those EEO efforts.

Broad and inclusive outreach has been achieved during the reporting period, first by informing employees and recognized employee organizations of the stations’ EEO policy and program, and by making sure all levels of management and employment unit personnel understand our EEO policy, thus ensuring equal employment opportunities and preventing discrimination.

There was limited hiring of full time personnel during the period, save for the total of three employees listed in the accompanying Annual Public File Reports for 2010. The station utilizes a system by which it can widely disseminate information concerning each job vacancy at the station. Job vacancies are rare, but are posted within the station and on the station’s web page, and they are sent to relevant trade and other organizations in order to assure the greatest number of people can be made aware of such openings. We are especially proud of our relationship with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, a part of the Department of Labor and Industry of Pennsylvania, which provides us referrals of persons who might not otherwise have an opportunity in the broadcasting industry.

The licensee contacted and established relationships with community groups and organizations that distribute employment opportunities to job seekers or refers job seekers to potential employees. It created and maintained a master recruitment source list and expects the list of organizations wishing to receive notification of job openings to grow next year, as it did between 2009 and 2010.

Future recruitment initiatives that will be performed during the coming years will be the establishment of a training program through which we will send various employees to sales seminars, technical workshops, and other classes that will enable personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions. Active mentoring assignments are periodically made for promising employees. The station, using the web site, educates the public about career and job opportunities in television broadcasting which prepares students and others to enter and advance in such a career.
